This gorgeous site is just four minutes from my home. I drive by it often and it's one of those things that has just always been there and I haven't paid much attention, but when you begin to look at scenes through artist eyes, it changes and you see the possibilities. This was painted in an hour and a half, chasing the sun and lengthening shadows. Colors vary slightly on individual monitors.

Bings on Beige
Cherries are wonderful to paint. The key is to not make them too round. These Bing cherries are anything but round. The have quite a fun personality. The cloth I used to set them on lends for wonderful directional lines, drawing your eye right into the cherries.

Blue on Lemon
So good to get back into the studio. Painting outdoors (en plein air) makes painting in the studio seem like a vacation. No wind, no blinding sun, no bugs, just jazz and feline friends, who, by the way, only comment when asked.
This piece came together quickly because the composition is good. The shadows and background lend to the design with diagonals and circles.
"Blue on Lemon" oil on panel 8x10" $150.
