Since it is Apple Blossom weekend here in the beautiful Wenatchee Valley, what better subject matter than apple blossoms. Our mini-ranch is actually surrounded by apple orchards so I have plenty of resource material. I love the random shapes of the blossoms, no two are alike. The blossoms grow in clusters sometimes, creating a challenge for "negative painting," where you paint the subject by painting what is behind the subject!
Another challenge when painting apple blossoms is the color. As you can see here (be sure to see the detail below) the blossom is more pink before it blooms. When it is fully open, it is more "white" than pink. This is the first in a series that I will work on in the next couple weeks, so if you'd like 3 or 4 for a grouping, now is the time to purchase!
